345 (D345, 40145) at Peak Forest on 30th September 2016

The Class 40 Preservation Society's BR Blue Class 40 No. 345 (D345, 40145) passes Peak Forest with the 1Z48 15:39 Buxton to Castleton Hopwood Gf railtour-cum-stock move on 30th September 2016. Operated by West Coast Railway Company, this train was taking the Scottish Rail Preservation Society's rake of MkI coaches to the East Lancs Railway ahead of a railtour from Bury to Stratford-upon-Avon the following day. Instead of running straight to Bury, a few extra miles were added to the itinerary and tickets sold for the jaunt to Buxton. The outward journey ran via Manchester Victoria, Stockport and Furness Vale to Buxton. With West Coast's Class 57/3 No. 57313 on the rear, the train reversed out of Buxton to allow No. 345 to continue to Chinley, Hazel Grove and along the mid-Cheshire line, joining the WCML at Hartford and proceeding back to Manchester via Warrington and the Chat Moss line.
